A LARGE FRENCH SILVER INKSTAND, late 19th Century, the figures fully modelled, of shaped oval outline, on four grotesque mask tapering scroll feet, with openwork interlocking vine and floral apron, the front centering oval cartouche flanked by two putti, the shaped pen reserve with flat chased stiff leaf and rocaille border, with multi scroll pen support to the rear, the center with raised naturalistic ground, with toddler blowing a horn, and with shaped circular bowl, the stem flanked by two Classical seated maidens, centered by two campana form urns with two griffin caryatid handles, the raised detachable covers topped by double griffin finial, the cover and base decorated with stylized foliage--18in.
