A GROUP OF FIVE ENGLISH CUPS
Circa 1760-1770
The first Worcester, the bell-shaped cup with wish-bone handle, painted with a loose bouquet, scattered flowers and insects; the second Liverpool (Philip Christian) brightly painted with a puce and yellow tulip and other flowers; the third painted in colours with Chinese figures; the fourth an English teabowl painted with Chinese figures in a garden; the fifth a Liverpool coffee-cup, circa 1770, painted in colours with Chinese figures seated and standing in a landscape; together with a London-decorated Chinese export cup, mid-18th century, painted with dishevelled birds in the style of James Giles (6)
