A WOVEN COTTON AND WOOL COVERLET, probably American, dated 1838, woven in navy wool and cream cotton, and centering a spreadwing eagle surrounded by stars flanked by tulip medallions on a snowflaked field, the border with trees, bird, squirrel and dog motif alternating with a flower-in-urn motif, surrounded by a scrolling vine and heart border, and featuring a lozenge with "Sarah Cole/April 4, 1838", opposite side shaving the reverse pattern--88in. x 72.5in.
