A GERMAN SILVER COVERED CUP AND BEAKER, late 19th Century, Gothic style, the cup of inverted lobed baluster form, on hexafoil foot, with tear drop lobes, rising to a knopped openwork stem, the cup with similar lobes, the cover with pierced rim of Gothic foliate decoration, the dome with similar lobes, surmounted by a similar fretwork gallery rising to a figural finial of St. George slaying a dragon; the beaker of vase form on three fruit form feet the body with spiral flutes and lobes, flat chased with leaves, the flaring rim engraved with an inscription, cup marked on base, beaker marked under base--20 1/2in.(52cm.) height of cup and cover, gross weight 51oz.
