A GEORGE III IRISH SILVER COFFEE POT, Dublin, maker's mark of William Townsend, circa 1770, slightly tapering cylindrical on short molded foot, the lower body and shoulder chased and engraved with floral sprays on partly matted ground, scrolls, scalework and rocaille, two sides with crest engraved (differing) asymmetrical cartouche within broad rocaille surround, with elaborate rocaille and foliate scroll spout terminating in mask, with wood scroll handle, the hinged low molded decorated cover topped by pinecone finial--10in. (25.4cm.) high, gross weight 34.5oz.
