A LOUIS XV/XVI STYLE ORMOLU-MOUNTED SYCAMORE AND PARQUETRY TABLE À AMBULANTE
IN THE MANNER OF LACROIX

With a three-quarter pierced galleried oval top above a conforming frieze centrally fitted with a drawer, on cabriole legs joined by an oval galleried undertier headed by foliate-cast chutes ending in scroll sabots, inlaid thoughout with trellis parquetry enclosing floral sprays--28½in. (72cm.) high, 19in. (48cm.) wide, 14in. (36cm.) deep

The offered lot is a copy of a model by Roger van der Cruse, called Lacroix. Examples are at Waddesdon Manor, Windsor Castle and formerly in the Collection of Henry Ford II, sold Sotheby Park Bernet, New York, 25 February 1978, lots 76 and 77. A virtually identical model by Paul Sormani was sold in these Rooms, 25 October 1991, lot 200.
