FIRST AND ONLY EDITION of the funeral oration on Eleanor of Aragon by Baptista Guarino, son of the great humanist Guarino of Verona. Among Eleanor's sterling qualities extolled by Guarino were her fidelity, probity and wisdom. She married Ercole d'Este in 1472, and was a valuable helpmate. Their court ushered in a golden age at Ferrara, populated with artists and writers such as Boiardo, Ariosto and Guarino. Andrea Belfortis was the first printer at Ferrara, beginning in 1470, and a number of his books were printed for or dedicated to Ercole d'Este.
