2° (306 x 210 mm). Collation: +-2+6 +a6 +b-+z a-z Aa-Cc8 Dd4. 406 leaves. Roman letter, table in 3 columns, shoulder notes, date-line in inner margins throughout. Title within 4-part criblé metalcut border with portraits of classical authors, at bottom the lower portion of a woodcut of a walled garden, 4 large woodcuts, of the Creation of Eve, the expulsion from Paradise, Cain slaying Abel, and the tower of Babel, the first two within metalcut and woodcut borders (as in the 1506 edition), opening text page within four-part criblé metalcut border of putti and arabesques, woodcut schematic world map, 103 vignette woodcuts, of which 96 cuts of town views and 7 cuts of Biblical figures, woodcut and one or two metalcut initials. (Small internal repairs to title-leaf, K5, Dd1, and Dd4, affecting title border and a few letters, a few minor marginal tears or repairs, occasional discoloration, Eve's body scribbled over in Creation cut.) 19th-century vellum over pasteboards (a remboîtage?, impression of old lettering-piece on backstrip).

Eleventh illustrated edition and third edition in Italian of Jacobo Philippo da Bergamo's ever-popular chronicle. This is the first edition with Marco Guazzo's continuation to 1535. The large woodcuts and town views are a mixture of those used in the six previous editions; the 7 small Biblical cuts were first used in the edition of 1524.
