First edition of an oration delivered on the occasion of the entry of Caterina Cornaro (1454-1510), Queen of Cyprus, Jerusalem and Armenia, into Brescia on 6 September 1497. Caterina was married to James II, King of Cyprus in 1472, but was widowed only the following year. She was unable to withstand the many plots and foreign designs on Cyprus, and abdicated power to the Venetian Republic in 1489. Thereafter Caterina lived at Asolo, where she gathered a distingushed circle, including Bembo and Giorgione.
