A GILT-METAL MOUNTED IVORY TEA CADDY, MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY), of cylindrical form set on a slightly splayed foot with small domed cover surmounted by an ivory bud knop, the body of ivory inlaid in Shibayama style with birds and flowers in mother-of-pearl and colored ivory, the metal mounts chased with waves at the foot and with overlapping flowerheads around the neck, inner container also gilt and fitted with a gilt stopper, the domed cover matching the neck (short age cracks to ivory)--6¾ in. high
