A LARGE IMARI VASE, MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY), of slender ovoid form with waisted neck flaring to a wide mouth, decorated on each side in a rich palette of iron red, cobalt blue, acqua and gilt with a large folding-screen panel of women above a wide blue and white lappet band, the shoulder painted with further formal motifs reserved on a blue ground gilded with peony scroll, the neck matching the iron red and floral-studded field surrounding the large screen panels on the body (body cracks and some restoration)--38 in. high
