A pair of painted pottery equestrian figures
Tang Dynasty
the horses standing four square on rectangular bases with their heads lowered, the figures seated wearing long flowing robes and hoods painted in red pigments, red, black and white pigments remaining -- 12 5/8in. (32cms) high, (old wear, one leg broken and restuck).
