A PAIR OF SÈVRES STYLE ORMOLU-MOUNTED TURQUOISE-GROUND VASES
LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Each of tapering squat cylindrical form, the mouth fitted with a pierced gilt cap, the shoulder painted with a floral garland entwined around a turquoise ribbon, the lower body gilt with elaborate foliate rocaille scrolls, raised on a waisted gadrooned socle supported on four ram's head feet, the ormolu handles formed as upright bacchante herms terminating in acanthus and holding scrolling grape vines, linked at the hip with floral garlands suspending portrait medallions of court beauties--20½in.
