THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY, ATTRIBUTED TO CHARLES WINKLESON

With a rectangular ormolu-molded top with D-shaped ends inset with a tan gilt-tooled leather surface above a breakfront frieze fitted centrally with a spring-activated drawer inset with a "Wedgewood" type plaque flanked by drawers, on turned tapering fluted legs with toupie feet and pierced interlacing H-stretcher centering an urn--29¼in. (73.6 cm.) high, 57in. (144.7cm.) wide, 28¼in. (71cm.) deeep

Lot Essay

Charles Guillaume Winkleson (1812-1871) is recorded as working in Paris from 1854 util his death in 1871. He is known for his high quality bronze mounts as well as his cabinetry. An identical table de milieu by Winkleson is illustrated in D. Ledoux-Lebard, Les Ébénistes du XIXieme Siècle, 1965, p 636.
