Lot Essay

Henry Dasson (1825-1896), is recorded as having worked in Paris at 106 Rue Vielle-du-Temple. Dasson specialized in reproducing furniture and objets d'art in the styles of Louis XVI, XV and XVI as well as pastiches of these periods. He purchased the firm of the Ébéniste Charles Winkleson upon his death in 1870, consequently raising the quality of ormolu workmanship to a competetive level in the Paris Exhibitions from 1878 until 1895.
