McKinley"), on envelope (letter not present) addressed in her hand to Mrs. Albert King, black circular "Canton Ohio" 26 January 1903 datestamp, "Adrian Mich." receiving stamp on backflap, on black-bordered mourning envelope, torn at edge where opened.
Ida McKinley held the franking privilege from 1902 until her death in 1907, but her franks, nevertheless, seem unusually scarce. On surviving examples, she habitually signed in the upper left-hand corner, omitting to write "Free."
