TYLER, JOHN, President. Autograph letter signed ("John Tyler," with paraph) to W. Emmuel[?], n.p. 30 November 1847. 2 pages, 4to. Fine condition.

"A former President, whose ambitious agricultural experiments and various investments mostly ended in failure, settles a debt: "I have arranged my land matters at a sacrifice of $3000 - in the settlement of which I made available your bond....Charge me with the amount on the day it falls due, crediting the same by the sum of one hundred and seventy four dollars paid to your draft last fall or winter (I forget which) to enable you to open the first coal mine....This matter has resulted in great loss to me, but I wanted to pocket it sooner than be involved in a suit of endless duration....Will you do me the favor to send me all the papers you may have relating to this matter....."
