A RARE CIZHOU 'SPORT AND GAMES' SLIP-DECORATED DEEP JAR, 15TH/16TH CENTURY, with tall sides tapering to the base, painted in shades of brown slip with three shaped panels, one depicting boys holding sticks and hitting thrown balls, one with boys playing "Blind Man's Buff", the third with boys kicking a ball, all of the scenes set in terraced gardens reserved on a whorl ground between a floral foliage band at the neck and a classic-type scroll above large concertina ribs at the foot, the interior unusually glazed with a multitude of overlapping rows of circlets in the Henan style in black and brown (some damage)--31 in. high, 22 in. diam.
