In the six years following his high school graduation until his tragic death in 1955, Dean established himself as the ultimate Hollywood rebel starring in such classics as East of Eden, Rebel Without A Cause and Giant. Contrary to his rather dark, moody image, he is pictured throughout the yearbook in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Dean was a member of The Thespian Society (starring as Frankenstein), The Debate Club as the N.F.L. State Contest Winner (where he read Madman by Dickens); his Debate Club photograph signed by him in pencil Jim Dean, the School Band, a top guard on the basketball team, his team photograph signed Jim Dean; the Varsity F Club, the Baseball Team and the Track Team as pole vaulter.
