Founded in 1834 the Archaeographic Commission was a branch of the Ministry of Education, and was charged with the collection, editing and publication of historical documents. These volumes cover the period from 1361 until 1678, were edited by N.I. Kostomarov, G.F. Karpov and others, and cover a rich and fascinating miscellany on various subjects.
