Although Weegee is not known for his fashion images, his experiments led to the creation of unique imagery. He was able to manipulate the true image to come up with an imaginative result. Suzanne Johnston writes: "Weegee was enthusiastically applying his innovative photographic techniques to the field of fashion after he returned to New York from Hollywood in the early 1950's. He proved he was a master of special effects, and was commissioned by Vogue to do a series of photocaricatures of celebrities. He wrote approvingly in his autobiography: 'at Vogue anything went.' The resulting creativity on the part of the photographer is demonstrated by these three photographs."
