Man Ray's mannequin at the 1938 Surrealist Exhibition in Paris, (is noted as) the "climax of surrealist activity." Sixteen artists were invited to adorn rented store mannequins: I left mine nude with glass tears on the face and glass soap-bubbles in the hair.(see Self-Portrait, p. 233, caption).
