(6 3/16 x 3 13/16 in.), eighteenth-century red morocco, covers with gilt roll-tooled borders around sides, flat spines gilt-panelled in six compartments, two gilt-lettered, the remainder with pointillé gilt design of a square and intersecting diagonals, three concentric circles at intersection, board edges and turn-ins gilt, g.e., by NICOLAS-DENIS DEROME le jeune, with his ticket; one or two small scratches to covers, vol. 1 upper inner hinge cracked, vol. 1 title browned, first 12 leaves in vol. 1 with two filled wormholes catching a few letters, short tear to 1:004, minor marginal worming to last 3 quires in vol. 1, a hint of dampstaining to upper margins of vol. 1, a few modern reddish pencil markings in Iphigenia in Tauris, occasional very faint foxing or spotting, mostly in vol. 1, some soiling to first and last leaves. FIRST COMPLETE EDITION of the Greek texts, only four tragedies having been previously printed, in Florence c. 1495; spaces for initial capitals with guide letters, printer's woodcut anchor and dolphin device on versos of final leaves.
