A FOUR CASE LACQUER INRO
EDO PERIOD (19TH CENTURY), SIGNED GANSHOSAI AND SEALED SHUNSUI
The slender rectangular inro decorated in takamaki-e with a brown snake with red and black details and eye inlaid in aogai, the surface rendered in gold and green togidashi to simulate the bark of a pine tree around which curls the snake, the interior cases roiro embellished with muranashiji and large pieces of cut gold; fitted with a wood netsuke carved in the form of a small turtle crawling on the shell of another, signed Kozan and a bead ojime lacquered in gold and red with a spiderweb- 3 3/8 in. (8.4 cm.) long, minor surface blemish restored
