MUROMACHI PERIOD (16TH CENTURY)

Of ovoid form resting on a flat base with wide, cylindrical neck and flared mouth, the surface textured rough with numerous irregular nodules of feldspar (choseki) and pebbles and natural fissures, the natural ash glaze covering the surface and pooling olive at the base of the neck and streaming in thick, crystalline rivulets with dense crackle from the base of the neck across the shoulder and down one side- 14 1/4 in. (36.2 cm.) high, section of mouth broken away
