Of tapered ovoid form with flat shoulder and short, waisted neck, painted in colored enamels, silver and gilt with an elaborate arrangment of writing materials, a shodana set with numerous vessels, smaller writing tables, stands supporting scrolls and flowers and a variety of precious objects, a scroll painting of a landscape signed Sozan, all on a cream crackle ground enriched with with gilt dots, the foot and shoulder decorated with profusions of flowers, signed in gilt in a rectangular reserve Kyoto Kinkozan and in a red enamel cartouche Sozan- 8 1/2 in. (21.6 cm.) high
