A PAIR OF PORCELAIN SAKE BOTTLES
20TH CENTURY, SIGNED RO (KITAOJI ROSANJIN, 1883-1959)

Designed as a set of two bottles for a lady and gentleman, each of ovoid form, one slightly more slender with cylindrical neck ending in a straight lip and one with slightly larger neck ending in a wider, flared mouth, each painted in underglaze blue with slender branches of bamboo with numerous leaves, each signed on the slightly recessed base in underglaze blue Ro, in fitted wood box inscribed on the lid Sometsuke tokkuri-ni take "Blue and white bottles (2)", and signed Ro- 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) high (2)
