YOSHITOSHI AND KIYOCHIKA: oban tate-e triptychs (35.5 x 23.3 cm. ea. sheet approx.); three triptychs, Honen songa "Demons of illness and poverty stalking the lucky Gods", signed Oju Yoshitoshi ga and published by Akiyama Buemon, dated Meiji 17 (1884), mica-dusted ground; a triptych of the Emperor Yuryaku and courtiers fighting off the attack of an enormous wild boar, entitled Dai Nihon shiryaku zukai "Illustrations of abridged history of Japan", signed Oju Yoshitoshi and dated Meiji 12 (1879); and a triptych of individual portraits of Tokugawa shoguns each depicted as a photograph laid at angles on the page, signed Kobayashi Kiyochika and dated Meiji 20 (1887) and published by Yamaguchi Jiro- good impressions, good color, a few smudges or stains and slight toning, generally good condition (3)
