John Campbell, 2nd Marquis of Breadalbane (1796-1862) was the son of the 4th Earl and Ist Marquis of Breadlebane. He sat in the House of Commons from 1820 to 1826 and again from 1830-1834, when he was elevated to the Lords. He was a staunch supporter of the Independence of the Church of Scotland in their contest with the civil courts. He was regarded with great respect in Scotland, both in his capacity as a leading landowner and for his character and abilities.
