A CHEYENNE BEADED AND FRINGED HIDE PIPE BAG

Of tapering form with four bifurcated tabs at the top trimmed with blue, black and pale yellow beads, cuffs adorned with tiny blue, pink, black and white beads in horizontal and vertical bands, inverted triangles of mustard yellow, black and blue beads, fringe at the bottom bound with red on white quills and spearated by white beads, small cone attachments, 18in. (45.8cm.) long without attachments

O'Leary's ledger entry for this object states: "Pipe Bag. Cheyenne. Tiny beads. Extremely rare. Typically small for this period 1840's-1850's. See Kit Carson's at Santa Fe Mus."
