Lot Essay

According to Ronald Pisano, Sunny Spain was painted during one of Chase's summer visitis to Europe in the early 1880s. A similar painting entitled Outskirts of Madrid (1882) in is in the collection of Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut.

This painting will be included in Ronald G. Pisano's forthcoming catalogue raisonne of Chase's work.
