Lee Dai-Won was born in Seoul and graduated from law school at Kyung Sung University. During the years 1957-87 he had numerous one-person exhibitions in Korea, Japan, the United States and Europe. During the period 1973-91 he won the May 16th National Cultural Award, the Korean Art Award, and the Mok Ryun Chung Award. He teaches painting at Hong Ik University in Seoul.
