AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF FAMILE VERTE ROULEAU VASES
KANGXI
Each decorated around the sides with a continuous scene of various Daoist immortals in a rustic garden setting, including Liuhai and his three-legged toad, all in good humour, some relaxing and some jumping around, all dressed in simple robes with an animal skin tied around the hips, below narrow decorative borders on the neck and a ruyi band penciled in iron-red encircling the mouth rim, one with 'flower' mark and the other with 'chime' mark in underglaze blue within double circles on the base, one cracked and with some restoration, one with rim chips--18¼in.
