A RARE FAMILLE ROSE SGRAFFIATO-GROUND VASE AND COVER
QIANLONG SEAL MARK IN BLUE ENAMEL AND OF THE PERIOD

Made in the form of a double vase but without a dividing wall between the two sections, both sides finely enameled with various flowers borne on scrolling stems with gracefully curled leaves, reserved on one side on a blue sgraffiato ground and on the other on a similar ruby ground, the two ground colors switched in the bands below and in the narrower bands on the waisted neck above a ruyi collar, all between ruyi borders in green and iron-red at the mouth and foot rims, the similarly decorated cover surmounted by gilded spherical finials, the interior and base enameled in turquoise and the top of the mouth rim and the underside of the foot rim gilded, the nianhao written in a line on the base, restoration to rim of vase and knops restuck--6½in. (16.5cm.) high
