Each modeled seated on its haunches on a separate famille rose rectangular plinth decorated with panels of flowers and scholar's objects reserved on a floral ground, one with a cub, the other with a pierced ball, with flared nostrils and open mouth revealing sharp teeth, their moveable eyes in black, fur on the back, mouth and head picked out in shades of blue, purple, green and pink, with puce-colored flames on the haunches, their necks encircled by a blue brocade collar suspending gilt double-gourds--38½in.
