Lot Essay

Although unmarked, this bottle stylistically bears the hallmark of the best of jade carving from the imperial workshops. The stylized floral motifs on the sides of the bottle certainly bear comparison with motifs on Qianlong enamel bottles, particularly the interlocked scrolls on a bottle from the Beijing enamel workshops illustrated by Robert W. L. Kleiner, Chinese Snuff Bottles from the Collection of Mary and George Bloch, p. 3, fig. 2
