'...the 1911 Christmas edition of L'Illustration contained four of Dulac's pictures, depicting eastern characters, each related to a poem by André Dumas: Circe on her terrace at night, her two cheetahs on lashes, looking out at Odysseus' ships...the Queen of Sheba...Salome...and Scheherazade...All four pictures were exhibited...at that year's exhibition at the Leicester Galleries'.--C. The Dumas verse which accompanied the illustration is 'Circe rêve, tenant ses Philtres Dans ses mains.../...et ses panthères ont des regards prosquesque humains'.
