The rectangular projecting molded cornice above a pair of panelled cupboard doors centered and flanked by double ogee moldings opening to three shelves over an applied molding above three short thumb-molded drawers and a carved base molding, the sides double panelled--81in. high, 83in. wide, 28½in. deep

Lot Essay

With its molded projecting cornice and double ogee moldings, this shrank is characteristic of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. A related panelled schrank, now in the collection of the Wright's Ferry Mansion, Columbia, Pennsylvania, is illustrated in Vernon Gunnion, "The Pennsylvania German Shrank", Antiques (May, 1883): 1022, fig. 2.
