A WATERCOLOR AND INK DECORATED VORSCHRIFT IN ENGLISH AND GERMAN
SCHOOL OF JOHANN CHRISTIAN STRENGE, SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA, DATED 1789

The flowered meandering vine border punctuated at each corner by large red, yellow and blue tulips enclosing two inscriptions, the top verse in English ending with an alphabet and number writing sample, the lower verse in German and also followed by a similar writing sample, the bottom of the page with the red and black ink decorated inscription identifying the Vorschrift as belonging to Johannes Buchwalter, and written 10 April 1789--13 x 16in.
