A WATERCOLOR, INK, AND GILT DECORATED GEBURTS UND TAUFSCHEIN
ATTRIBUTED TO SAMUEL BENTZ, THE "MOUNT PLEASANT ARTIST," 1792-1850, LANCASTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, CIRCA 1828

The rectangular decorated certificate centering an astragal-form reserve with the German fraktur-schriften inscription [translation], "Peter Frey Son of Peter Frey and his wife Sarah, born Hauck, was born the 8th day of March 1825, was baptised the 18th day of September 1825 by William Beatis. The baptismal witnesses were Jacob Bentz and his wife Margaret," Inscription below states, "New Ephrata February 13th 1828" surrounded by red, yellow and gilt carnation, leaf and bird decorated repeating astragaled columns, arches and spheres--9 3/4 x 7 3/4in. high
