FAENZA, CIRCA 1540-1550, POSSIBLY FROM THE WORKSHOP OF VIRGILIOTTO CALAMELLI

Of cylindrical form, painted a quartieri in blue, green, ochre and yellow on a white ground with a geometric arrangement of acanthus, labeled in Gothic script for Pever longo, the underside inscribed in red with Sackler number 79.6.4 (restored rim chips, footrim worn, test drill holes to underside)--9 1/8in. (23.2cm.) high
