VENICE, CIRCA 1570, WORKSHOP OF DOMENICO DA VENEZIA

Painted in blue yellow, green and manganese on a white ground and enriched with white highlights, the shallow bowl with Moses in the desert within a yellow line rim, the underside inscribed in red with Sackler number 79.6.15 (test drill holes filled)--7 5/8in. (19.4cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

Sold with thermoluminescence certificate 381s1 dated January 1986 from the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, Oxford University, stating that the sample tested was last fired between 300 and 470 years ago (1516-1686).
