Lot Essay

The Surrounded Islands project took place between 1980-1983 in Biscayne Bay, Florida and involved surrounding eleven islands with six million square feet of fabric. In Christo's own words "Surrounded Islands underlines the various elements and ways in which people of the Greater Miami area live in constant relationship between land and water".
