Lot Essay

Miniatures by this talented artist are rare. One, representing Princess Adélaïde of Orléans, is in the Musée Condé, Chantilly (Cabinet des Gemmes, no. 92), a pair of miniatures is illustrated in J. Nimmergut and A.-M. Wager, Miniaturen. Dosen, Munich, 1982, p. 153, no. F18, a fine portrait of a gentleman is illustrated in K. Henninger-Tavcar, Miniaturporträts, Pforzheim, 1995, p. 280, and one is in the Louvre (see P. Jean-Richard, Miniatures sur ivoire. Musée du Louvre. Musée d'Orsay, Paris, 1994, no. 607).
