Lot Essay

Duke Albert of Saxe-Teschen (1738-1822), son of Augustus III King of Poland, was one of the best known generals of his time. He married Archduchess Marie-Christine of Habsburg, the favourite daughter of Empress Maria-Theresia. He was a great patron of the Arts and founded the Albertina.
