A COALPORT PART SERVICE
CIRCA 1810
Painted in mustard yellow, terracotta, pink, green and underglaze blue with a 'Japan'-type pattern of flowers, the underglaze blue leaves enriched with gilding, with gilt edges, the tureens with lion-mask handles and reclining lion finials (wear to gilt edges), comprising:
An oval tureen and cover (crack along foot, gilding on handles worn)--14 1/8in. (35.8cm.) wide
Four square vegetable dishes and covers (one cover cracked and stapled)--9 5/8in. (24.5cm.) square
Four oval sauce tureens, covers and stands (two stands cracked)--the stands 8 5/8in. (21.3cm.) wide
Ten plates (one with shaped edge, four with flaking to flowers in center, one with a rim chip, three cracked, three with chips to the foot rim)--8 5/8in. (21.9cm.) diam.
