Each with rectangular padded over scroll back, padded scroll arms and loose cushion seat within a moulded foliate-carved frame carved with guilloche on voluted sabre legs headed with paterae and ending in cloven feet, upholstered in gold foliate silk (restorations) (2)

A pair of Louis XVI white-painted banquettes by Dupain with similar scroll uprights, bold use of acanthus and scroll legs with cloven feet, previously in the collection of Mr. Paul Ambassadeur, were sold, Sotheby's New York, 4 November 1989, lot 270.
