A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN WATER DROPPER
CHOSON DYNASTY (18TH CENTURY)

The rectangular water dropper set on a flat base and moulded on one short side with a cylindrical spout, painted in underglaze blue on the top with a scene of two scholars observing a boat at sea and distant mountains, on one long side with slender branches of bamboo and on the other long side with a gnarled branch of plum, the spout and its opposite side inscribed in underglaze blue with a poem, all within narrow line borders, the base unglazed- 3 x 2 x 1 7/8 in. (7.6 x 5 x 4.7 cm.), spout restored, short hairline cracks
