The Drunken Zhongkui

The inscription mentions that ancient masters, from Wu Daozi (?-792) to Chen Hongshou (1598-1652), have painted many different images of Zhongkui. However none attempted painting a drunken Zhongkui. The artist, therefore, painted this drunken Zhongkui for a world which was peaceful and prosperous"
Signed: "Jin Nong at the age of seventy-five"
