This classic Jingo school tsuba has all the fine workmanship that can be seen in the early examples of the school.

A JINGO SCHOOL TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1650)
The rounded rectangular iron plate is decorated with silver nunome-zogan depicting the Hosokawa family crest and scrolling leaf forms. The sides are pierced with large, mushroom-form hitsu-ana. There are some slight iron bones on the rim--height 8.3cm., width 7.7cm., thickness 4.75mm.

Accompanied by a Tokubetsu kicho ninteisho, no. 198, dated January 23rd, 1976, issued by the N.B.T.H.K.
